Just when some of us thought the Vancouver Canucks would keep a low profile in free agency, general manager Jim Benning signs Antoine Roussel, Jay Beagle and Tim Schaller to multi-year deals.
Benning has received mixed reviews for his activities on Canada Day, but only time will tell if these signings pan out. In the meantime, the Canucks now have a logjam at forward — and they may face a similar issue on the blue line.
Assuming Elias Pettersson and Adam Gaudette make the team next season, the Canucks will have too many forwards trying to earn 12 regular spots.
