Would the Vancouver Canucks have any support of tanking if Auston Matthews did not surface for the 2016 NHL Entry Draft? Is tanking with just that single star in mind a healthy approach to rebuilding an NHL organization, one in a full youth movement in Vancouver’s case?
Sure, just look at Connor McDavid and Jack Eichel in Edmonton and in Buffalo, respectively. These generational talents work, and with some arguing that Matthews is even better than Eichel, there has got to be genuine support from the Matthews lovers in Vancouver to go and tank this Canucks squad.
