It’s been four years since the Vancouver Canucks last stood in the playoff race at this stage of the season, but young stars Elias Pettersson, Bo Horvat and Brock Boeser give the team some hope of getting back in the dance this season.
The Canucks defeated the Florida Panthers 5-1 on Sunday night at Rogers Arena, without their star rookie. The Minnesota Wild hold onto the eighth spot with 47 points, earning the tiebreaker over the Canucks because they’ve played fewer games (44 against 47).
Vancouver is also just one point behind the Colorado Avalanche, who have two games in hand.
