With the fifth pick in the 2017 NHL Entry Draft, the Vancouver Canucks selected Elias Pettersson from Timra of the Swedish Allsvenskan.
After losing out on a top-three pick once again, Canucks fans quickly accepted the club’s fate. There would be plenty of talent available when the Canucks were on the board, so there was no need to worry.
Watching Nico Hischier making his way up to the podium to put on the New Jersey Devils red and black was tough. But we all knew it was coming. We also knew Nolan Patrick would be the other player selected in the top two.
