This past season, the Vancouver Canucks infamously came back with the exact same defencemen that they had in the season prior, 2017-18. In 2017-18, the defence was a major issue, so it was curious to many that the Canucks decided to bring back the same defence group.
Throughout the 2017-18 season, when the defence had their fair share of mistakes and struggles, Alex Edler remained as one of the team’s most reliable defenceman. Once again this year, Edler was the Canucks’ best defenceman.
He quarterbacked the power play, and although the power play struggled mightily this year, the blame can’t all be put on Edler’s shoulders.
