Well, the 2017-18 season is going to be an interesting one for the Vancouver Canucks. Unlike the past two years, many folks are pretty certain this is a non-playoff team that’ll contend highly inthe draft lottery.
After team president Trevor Linden confessed to a rebuild, general manager Jim Benning stayed away from handing out Loui Eriksson-type contracts, instead finding bargain players like Sam Gagner, Thomas Vanek, Michael Del Zotto and Anders Nilsson.
Nonetheless, expectations are pretty low for the Canucks. Though young players like Bo Horvat, Troy Stecher, Sven Baertschi and Markus Granlund provide plenty of excitement for 2017-18, many of Vancouver’s top prospects are still a while away from turning pro.
