A promising start to the 2017-18 season is drying up quickly, as the Vancouver Canucks have struggled in December and find themselves only ahead of the Arizona Coyotes and Edmonton Oilers in the Western Conference standings.
There has been no shortage of storylines at this point of the season, however. Rookie sensation Brock Boeser is starting to get a major leg up in the Calder Trophy race, and his 19 goals are good for fifth in the NHL.
Injuries to key players like Bo Horvat, Brandon Sutter, Sven Baertschi and Chris Tanev have also put a damper on this team.
