The 2016 World Junior Championship in Finland were not great for the Vancouver Canucks’ prospects. Rookie forward Jake Virtanen had to take a lot of hate from “fans” all over Canada for taking a double-minor penalty late in the quarter-final game against Finland, which may or may not have caused the Canadians to lose. Brock Boeser and Team USA did not make it to the final either, but he will come home with some hardware around his neck.
Sweden entered the knockout stage of the tournament unbeaten. They advanced to the semi-finals with a 6-0 win over Slovakia but failed to beat the host Finland two days later.
