The Vancouver Canucks hung around in the playoff race much further than most could have expected, but their top four players haven’t been able to hold on any longer.
Elias Pettersson and Brock Boeser are notably slumping right now, while future captain Bo Horvat can only do so much by himself at both ends of the ice. Goalie Jacob Markstrom keeps standing on his head, but the team in front of him hasn’t done a whole lot in terms of support.
Vancouver has now lost dropped 11 of its last 14 games, and they’re now eight points behind the Dallas Stars and Minnesota Wild for the two wild card spots in the Western Conference.
