Vancouver Canucks: Plenty of questions on the blue line

On Friday, the Vancouver Canucks re-signed defenceman Troy Stecher to two-year contract worth $2.325 million a season, meaning the team now has eight blueliners under contract for 2018-19.

And to think that Olli Juolevi and Quinn Hughes, 2016 and 2018 first round picks, respectively, are going to be competing hard for roster spots. The Canucks simply have too many blueliners, and it leaves plenty of questions as training camp nears.

It’s surprising that the team hasn’t moved out 2017 free agent signing Michael Del Zotto. He is under contract for one more year at $3 million, and shouldn’t be difficult to trade.
