The Vancouver Canucks addressed their need for secondary scoring by trading for J.T. Miller, before signing veteran forward Micheal Ferland to a four-year contract worth a modest $14 million.
Seeing how many 20-goal scorers cost well more than $5 million annually on the open market, that deal certainly looked like a bargain for the Canucks. After all, Ferland has recorded consecutive 40-point seasons, and he’s only two years removed from a 21-goal season.
Of course, Ferland does much more than score goals. He brings plenty of energy and a physical edge.
