Vancouver Canucks: Josh Leivo trade has been a coup for Jim Benning

The Vancouver Canucks got back on the winning track with a crucial 4-3 shootout victory over the Calgary Flames on Saturday night, thanks in large part to the performance of Josh Leivo.

The 25-year-old scored Vancouver’s second goal of the game, and is now up to 11 on the season. He now has seven goals and five assists through his first 24 games with the Canucks. Throughout the course of a full season, that would be good for 24 goals, as pointed out by Jason Botchford of The Athletic.

It’s no secret that the Canucks have been far too reliant on young stars Elias Pettersson, Bo Horvat and Brock Boeser to do the bulk of the scoring.
