Vancouver Canucks: Jim Benning has to address future cap crunch

Vancouver Canucks general manager Jim Benning managed to reach a three-year bridge deal with star sniper Brock Boeser, ending two and a half months of complicated negotiations.

Now, it’s time to plan ahead for the future.

The Canucks are practically out of salary cap space, and Benning has to start thinking long-term. The organization should already be thinking about the Elias Pettersson and Quinn Hughes extensions that will need to be addressed by the 2021 offseason at the latest. They are going to be monstrous deals, after all.
