Vancouver Canucks general manager Jim Benning is an extremely polarizing figure here on the west coast, but nobody can take away the great job he’s done in rebuilding this team through the draft.
Benning has hit home runs with most of his first round draft picks up to date, landing a handful of future cornerstones in Thatcher Demko, Brock Boeser, Elias Pettersson, Quinn Hughes and Vasili Podkolzin.
The Vancouver front office is receiving more and more praise for their works under the Benning era, as Corey Pronman of The Athletic (subscription required) placed the Canucks’ farm system as the NHL’s fifth best.
