The Vancouver Canucks have re-signed left winger Sven Baertschi to a two-year extension worth $3.7 million in total. Baertschi will earn $1.7 million this coming season and $2.0 million in the second year.
The 23-year-old native of Bern, Switzerland scored 15 goals and 28 points in 69 games this past season, playing primarily as Bo Horvat‘s left winger. He was originally acquired by Canucks GM Jim Benning in March of 2015 in exchange for the Canucks’ 2nd-round pick. That pick has now turned into defenseman Rasmus Andersson of the Barrie Colts.
Getting this extension done was one of Jim Benning’s top goals for the offseason.
