A 28th-place finish in the 2015-16 season should be easy to beat the next year. Unfortunately, the Vancouver Canucks currently sit in 28th again, and nothing at all is better than last season. In fact, the Canucks are currently on pace for 73 points — that’s two fewer than last season.
Going into the year, the Canucks had an important decision to make: try to sell players at the deadline or go all-in for the playoffs. They opted for the latter, though without any deadline additions, and failed miserably. The playoffs were never realistic, so something needed to change for the new season.
