We all know the big names. Nolan Patrick, Nico Hischier, Miro Heiskanen and so on. They would all be great for the Vancouver Canucks and, although the aforementioned three could well be gone by pick No. 5, there will still be plenty of talent available.
But the NHL draft is about more than that.
One of the highly discussed characteristics of the NHL draft is that the selected players are extremely young. Unlike the NFL, for example, where teams draft players after the conclusion of their college careers to fill immediate needs, most NHL draftees are 17 or 18 years old.
