The Vancouver Canucks had a trio of young stars carry the offence, and goalie Jacob Markstrom tuned in the best season of his career — but there was one weak link that hurt this team throughout 2018-19.
General manager Jim Benning took a risk by icing the same blue line as last season. Alexander Edler enjoyed an excellent bounce-back year, while Richmond, B.C. native Troy Stecher established himself as a top-four blueliner. Rookie Quinn Hughes impressed in his five-game audition, and he’ll undoubtedly bring more stability and offence from the back end next season.
