The Morning After The Night Before, 12 January 2017

While Jim Benning’s comments yesterday were important to our Vancouver Canucks - we will not be trading away draft picks to help us with the playoff effort - that was all lost amid the fantastic achievement from Alexander Ovechkin. In his 880th career game, Ovie scored after just 35 seconds against the Penguins to notch his 1,000th career point.

Ovechkin becomes the second-fastest active player to reach the mark - behind only Jaromir Jagr - the 37th player to reach the mark with just one franchise, and the 84th player in history to reach 1,000pts. Finishing the game on 1,001pts, Ovie is 28pts away from equalling Alexei Kovalev for 74th all-time in points.
