The Calgary Flames acquired forward Hunter Shinkaruk from the Vancouver Canucks for center Markus Granlund

The Calgary Flames acquired forward Hunter Shinkaruk from the Vancouver Canucks for center Markus Granlund on Monday.

The Flames said Shinkaruk, a Calgary native, will be assigned to their AHL affiliate, the Stockton Heat.

Shinkaruk was the 24th overall pick in the 2013 NHL Draft. He has 39 points (21 goals, 18 assists) in 45 games this season with the Utica Comets of the AHL. Shinkaruk, 21, made his NHL debut last November vs. Montreal.

Granlund, 22, had 7 points (4 goals, 3 assists) in 31 games with the Flames this season.
