Thatcher Demko being day-to-day is something Canucks fans could get used to going forward. After suffering a torn popliteus muscle injury in Game 1 of Vancouver’s first-round playoff series during the 2023-2024 season, Demko only played a total of 23 games last season where he posted the worst numbers of his otherwise solid career.
A torn popliteus muscle is extremely rare, difficult to recover from, and could be something he deals with for the rest of his career.
That being said, the injury itself is highly dependent on severity and how well it is managed, and so far the prized goaltender has been a big reason why the Canucks have not fallen into the basement of the standings with all of the injuries they have had, as he has won five of his nine starts.
