BUFFALO, N.Y. — Ryan Miller got a nice tribute from the Buffalo Sabres and their fans, but he and the Canucks couldn’t get a win Saturday as the Vancouver goalie returned to his former hockey home.
The Sabres beat the Canucks 3-2 at the First Niagara Center as Vancouver began a seven-game road trip with its second straight loss. This one was a heart-breaker.
Defenceman Rasmus Ristolainen beat Miller with a long shot with just 17 seconds left in the third period to give the Sabres the win.
It was another frustrating third period for the Canucks, who had tied it midway through the period on a Chris Higgins goal.
