Dan Hamhuis just smiled when asked Wednesday if he has offered any sage, veteran-to-rookie advice to young defenceman Ben Hutton.
“Nothing,” Hamhuis said. “I haven’t given him any advice. Just keep doing what he is doing. When a guy is going well, you let him be and stay out of his way and that is kind of what we have been doing. He is playing really well.”
Hutton has been playing so well that there now seems to be the real possibility he could be part of the Canucks’ opening-night roster next week.
The 22-year-old University of Maine product has demonstrated wonderful puck-moving skills and considerable poise in his own end.
