Kevin Bieksa waiving no-trade clause could trigger other Canucks moves

FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. — By the time the sun rose in B.C. this morning, news had broken at the National Hockey League here that Vancouver Canucks defenceman Kevin Bieksa had agreed to waive his no-trade clause to facilitate a possible move to the San Jose Sharks.

Sportsnet's Elliote Friedman was the first to report that Bieksa, 34, had given Canucks general manager Jim Benning support to pursue a deal specifically with the Sharks. But that green light could trigger other moves today for Vancouver, which is also trying to trade either backup goalie Eddie Lack or minor-league star Jacob Markstrom.
