After a tough world junior tourney, the last thing the Vancouver Canucks were going to do was send Jake Virtanen a one-way ticket to Calgary.
But just because he is rejoining the Canucks, it doesn’t mean Virtanen is back to stay.
General manager Jim Benning said Sunday the team will take some time to decide whether or not Virtanen will finish the season as a Canuck or as a member of the WHL’s Calgary Hitmen.
The Canucks sent Virtanen to the world juniors hoping he would have a positive experience that he could bring back to Vancouver.
