Alex Auld knew about a month before the rest of us that Eddie Lack was special.
A former Canuck who began tutoring goalies after retiring as a player two years ago, Auld was contacted by Lack in January. Introduced by local journalist Kevin Woodley, who publishes a goaltending magazine and website and has more goalies in his contacts folder than Georges Vezina has on his trophy, Auld and Lack had worked a handful of sessions together last September before Lack started his second National Hockey League season with the Canucks.
“He wasn’t playing too much in the season,” Auld said last week.
