VANCOUVER — Alex Edler made one great shot and one great pass and Ryan Miller made a pile of saves as the Vancouver Canucks won an intense, contentious, rollicking National Hockey League game 2-1 against the New York Rangers.
Thirty seconds after a questionable call allowed Ranger Dan Boyle to score the tying goal on a penalty shot, Edler’s excellent pass was redirected from the side of the net by Canuck Daniel Sedin for the winner at 9:24 of the third period.
With Edler scoring during a 5-on-3 power play at 3:19 — after a penalty call that so infuriated the Rangers they were assessed a bench minor after the goal — it was one of the most enthralling periods this season at Rogers Arena.
