VANCOUVER — Asked a couple of weeks back how his nephew would handle the pressure of playing hockey in Vancouver, Los Angeles Kings’ coach Darryl Sutter said: “Hey, man, we’ve been doing this for 45 years.”
Apart from being possibly his most colourful quote since Darryl was asked after a dismal San Jose Shark loss in Vancouver at the start of the century if his team actually tried, there was a lot of truth in the boast.
Between them, the Sutters, now in their second generation of staffing the National Hockey League, have pretty much seen and done it all.
