This time Shareef Abdur-Rahim stood at centre ice, not centre court.
The Vancouver Canucks celebrated the Vancouver Grizzlies on Monday night and they made the right choice by bringing in Abdur-Rahim to be the focal point of that celebration.
Abdur-Rahim represented much of what was good about a bad Grizzlies team. He was here for the final five of the six years the Grizzlies spent in Vancouver before the NBA team was moved to Memphis.
He dropped the puck in a ceremonial faceoff before the Canucks met the Philadelphia Flyers and earlier in the day spent some time in the old Grizzlies dressing room at Rogers Arena, which of course was General Motors Place when Abdur-Rahim was knocking down jump shots for the Grizzlies.
