PENTICTON — Cole Cassels figures to have a pair of first-rounders flanking him and quite possibly a No. 1 overall pick staring him in the face when the Vancouver Canucks prospects meet their Edmonton Oilers counterparts Friday night at the Young Stars Classic.
A potential Cassels-Connor McDavid matchup is an intriguing subplot to Vancouver’s Young Stars’ opener at the South Okanagan Events Centre. And if it happens, Cassels won’t mind a bit.
“Yeah, if the opportunity presents itself, it is always a fun challenge,” Cassels said after practice in Penticton on Thursday. “I like getting challenged by that and having a role and a task to fulfil during a game.
