Dan Hamhuis alternate captain for Team Canada

Calgary, A.B. – Jim Nill, general manager of Canada’s National Men’s Team, announced Thursday, in collaboration with Hockey Canada, that Sidney Crosby (Cole Harbour, N.S./Pittsburgh, NHL) will serve as captain of Canada’s National Men’s Team at the 2015 IIHF Ice Hockey World Championship, scheduled for May 1-17 in Prague and Ostrava, Czech Republic.

Nill also announced that Dan Hamhuis (Smithers, B.C./Vancouver, NHL) and Jason Spezza (Toronto, Ont./Dallas, NHL) will serve as alternate captains.

Sidney Crosby captained Canada to a gold medal at the 2014 Olympic Winter Games in Sochi, Russia, and won Olympic gold at the 2010 Games, scoring the overtime winner in the gold medal game.
