Wednesday was a historic day for the sports world. The NHL, however, was on the wrong side of history.
While the NBA, MLB, WNBA and MLS all cancelled games, the most privileged white league in North America played on.
On Thursday, the NHL had a chance to slightly rectify their mistake by postponing Thursday’s games.
That was what occurred after a call for action from the Hockey Diversity Alliance (more on that below).
As of about noon on Thursday, the NHL players and the league announced that games will be postponed on Thursday and Friday, with play likely to resume Saturday.
