Canucks' special teams struggles persist in 3-2 loss to Senators

OTTAWA – Unable again to score enough on their power play or stop the opposition’s, the Vancouver Canucks lost 3-2 Thursday to the Ottawa Senators to fall to 1-2-1 on their seven-game National Hockey League road trip.

The difference was two power-play goals by the Senators and one – with 23.9 seconds left -- for the Canucks, who were the better team at even-strength but were undermined again by their poor special-teams play.

The Canucks largely dominated the second period, but surrendered the only goal when unchecked Erik Karlsson one-timed Kyle Turris’ cross-ice pass to break a 1-1 tie at 14:00.
