Canucks re-sign Ronalds Kenins and Alex Friesen

Jim Benning announced Monday afternoon the club re-signed the two rookie forwards to cheap, short-term deals.

The Vancouver Canucks re-signed forward Ronalds Kenins to a one-year, one-way contract on Monday afternoon. The 25-year-old Latvian impressed fans and management with his energetic play on the fourth line during a call-up during the regular season and his stay was extended for the rest of the season.

Kenins reportedly will make $575,000 next season, which is slightly above the league minimum.

Kenins had four goals and 12 points in 30 NHL games last year, while contributing five goals and 12 points in 36 games with the AHL's Utica Comets.
