Week-long breaks naturally lead to rust and sloppy play for a couple of games, but the Vancouver Canucks haven’t missed a beat following the All-Star weekend.
The Pacific Division leaders held on for a tight 3-1 win against the St. Louis Blues on Monday night, and they followed it up with a 5-2 victory over the rival San Jose Sharks on Wednesday. It was the perfect start to a five-game road trip.
Entering play on Thursday, the Canucks sit first in the Pacific Division with 62 points (29-18-4). They’re two points up on the Calgary Flames (Vancouver has a game in hand), and four up on the Edmonton Oilers, who have played one less game.
