The Vancouver Canucks delayed the full-on rebuild and aimed for the playoffs again in 2016-17, but they’re set to watch the postseason from their couches for the second straight year. Not exactly how general manager Jim Benning planned it, of course.
At the trade deadline, the Canucks shipped away veterans Alexandre Burrows and Jannik Hansen, suggesting to the fans that they’re finally committed to a full-scale rebuild. If that’s the case, a number of ageing veterans should also be dealt in the offseason.
If Vancouver wants to rebuild, it doesn’t make sense to keep around guys who are entering their twilight years.
