The Vancouver Canucks got their first taste of 3-on-3 overtime Saturday night. It did not go well.
Johnny Gaudreau capitalized on a Brandon Sutter giveaway and beat Vancouver goalie Ryan Miller at 3:03 of OT to give the Flames a 3-2 come-from-behind win.
The Flames had tied the game at 8:49 of the third on a goal by Sean Monahan.
Bo Horvat and rookie Jared McCann, with his first NHL goal, scored for the Canucks.
Defenceman Dougie Hamilton scored Calgary’s other goal.
The win was retribution of sorts for the Flames, who were beat 5-1 by the Canucks in the season-opener for both teams Wednesday night in Calgary.
