CALGARY — Vancouver Canucks winger Alex Burrows has been cleared by the NHL to play in Tuesday’s Game 4 of their playoff series against the Calgary Flames.
Burrows received an instigator penalty when he fought Calgary defenceman Kris Russell at 18:35 of the third period of Sunday’s 4-2 loss to the Flames. Instigator calls carry an automatic one-game suspension if they are incurred in the final five minutes of a game.
But for the second time in this series, the NHL has struck down the suspension that normally accompanies an instigator call. Calgary defenceman Deryk Engelland had his instigator call in Game 2 rescinded by the NHL.
