On February 2, 2019, the Vancouver Canucks stood closer to a playoff berth than they did in years. Led by a rookie, Elias Pettersson and a core of talent featuring players like Brock Boeser, Bo Horvat, and Jacob Markstrom, the Canucks overachieved staying above .500. The last ten games have changed Vancouver's outlook as they appear headed closer to the bottom of the standings, however.
This season has progressed rather well despite the latest downturn. Elias Pettersson has hit a rough patch but that was expected given the grind of an 82-game NHL schedule.
