Western Kentucky catches fire early, knocks off UTSA, 83-71

SAN ANTONIO — The UTSA Roadrunners skidded on another rough patch of basketball in the first half Thursday night and got buried in a 20-point hole at intermission.

Not even hot-shooting Christian Wilson and Ryan Bowie could dig them out of it.

The Western Kentucky Hilltoppers survived 18 points apiece by Wilson and Bowie in the second half and held off the Roadrunners, 83-71, in front of an announced 1,003 fans at the Convocation Center.

Wilson finished 27 points for his fourth game of 20 or more in his last six, but UTSA lost its fifth in a row.
