SAN ANTONIO — Coach Shaka Smart’s Texas Longhorns romped to a 116-50 victory Tuesday night, handing the UTSA Roadrunners the most lopsided loss in school history.
The 66-point loss erased a 48-point loss to the Texas Tech Red Raiders in 1997 as the widest margin of defeat for the Roadrunners in 35 years of basketball.
Scoring nearly at will in the game played at the Erwin Center, in Austin, UT hit 44 of 68 shots from the field, including 13 of 22 from 3-point territory. The Longhorns (5-3) bolted to a 56-17 lead at halftime and never looked back.
