TCU’s Curtis Luper interviews for UTSA football job

SAN ANTONIO — TCU assistant Curtis Luper’s bid to become head coach of the UTSA football program grew more serious Sunday when he interviewed for the job.

Two sources, one of them attending the American Football Coaches Association convention, confirmed Luper’s interview with UTSA officials.

It wasn’t immediately clear late Sunday night whether Luper has been the first candidate to talk to the Roadrunners.

Others in the running reportedly are Houston co-defensive coordinator Craig Naivar, former Kentucky head coach Hal Mumme and former Houston head coach Tony Levine.

UTSA could announce the new coach later this week.
