SAN ANTONIO – Multi-run homers from Madison Washington and Brittany Coe helped the Roadrunners defeat Kansas 5-3 in the home opener Friday night at Roadrunner Field.
The Jayhawks got on the board first with a solo home run in the top of the fourth. In the bottom of the frame, Kindell Brooks opened with a single to left field and Coe followed behind with a home run to left center as UTSA led 2-1.
The Roadrunners added three more runs in the fifth. Celeste Loughman started the frame with a single up the middle.
