Rice’s Bailiff says he’s not in the running for UTSA job

SAN ANTONIO — TCU assistant Curtis Luper has withdrawn his name from consideration in the search for UTSA’s next football head coach.

Luper confirmed it in a text Tuesday afternoon. The three-year TCU assistant interviewed for the position Sunday and was thought to be one of the leading candidates.

Other names mentioned include Rice head coach David Bailiff, Houston co-defensive coordinator Craig Naivar, former Houston head coach Tony Levine and former Kentucky head coach Hal Mumme.
