RYE, N.Y. — UTSA rising senior Hannah Holzmann fired a 1-under-par round on Tuesday to advance to match play at the 121st U.S. Women's Amateur at Westchester Country Club.
Holzmann moved into contention to make the cut with her 71 on Tuesday after opening with a 77 on Monday. The All-Conference USA performer birdied four of her first 11 holes and held on for a spot in match play by finishing with a 71, which vaulted her into a tie for 45th place at 4-over 148 in the 156-player field.
The San Antonio native logged her first birdie of the final round of stroke play with a four on the 529-yard, par-5 fifth before writing down a three on the 326-yard, par-4 seventh and a four on the 489-yard, par-5 ninth holes to close out a 3-under 33 on the front.
