Veronika Lebisova has a promising tennis career in front of her at UTEP, but regardless of what happens in this week's Conference USA championships, regardless of what the next two years hold for her, the sophomore from Czechia has already made history.
Last week she became the first player in the history of the UTEP tennis program to make the C-USA Academic All-Conference team, a fitting honor for a kinesiology major with a 4.0 grade-point average.
"I was so grateful to get this award," said Lebisova, who is with her team in Murfreesboro, Tenn., to take on Charlotte in its C-USA tournament opener.
