The annual basketball transfer carousel has begun for the UTEP women's team, as leading scorer Destiny Thurman and back-up center Brenda Fontana have entered the transfer portal.
Thurman, classified as a redshirt junior, started all 23 games she appeared in, averaging a team-leading 13.0 points in her second season with UTEP after transferring from Collin County Community College. She did miss games this season with COVID and with a concussion. She transfers with one more year of eligibility.
Fontana, a second-year freshman, started four games and averaged 5.4 points and 3.9 rebounds. She will have three more years.
