UTEP's stay at the NCAA Track and Field Championships in Austin was brief, as its lone entry, defending NJCAA champion Sean Bailey, was 13th in the qualifying round of the 400 meters Wednesday and didn't make the finals.
Bailey came in seeded eighth with his regional personal best time of 45.19 seconds, so with eight runners making the finals, the junior transfer from Western Texas College needed to come up with something close to that to have a chance to advance.
