July is always an underrated time for a college basketball team, the point when new players arrive and begin the three-month process of fitting in with the veterans in time for the October season tipoff.

For a UTEP women's basketball team undergoing a major overhaul, those newcomers make up almost half of the total. In fact, with Neidy Ocuane on national team duty for Mozambique in the AfroBasket tournament in Senegal, newcomers make up seven of the 14 players at the Miners' offseason workouts.

Two of the seven returnees this summer, Sabine Lipe and Jordan Jenkins, are at different stages of injury rehab (Lipe is close to a full return), so the players who will take the court for the Miners in this pivotal period will be mostly new.
