The UTEP women's basketball team knows it can lean on its defense.
When the offense gets going at the same time, like it did in the first half of a 76-46 victory against Western Michigan in the UTEP Thanksgiving Classic, the Miners can be a splendid team.
In racing out to a 38-15 intermission lead, they harassed Western Michigan into 22% shooting, including missing its first 13 3-pointers, and 11 turnovers while running their offense efficiently at the other end.
